Long standing Fortune Green Councillor Flick Rea steps down

In a letter to residents of Fortune Green ward she said, “I have been privileged to represent Fortune Green as a Liberal Democrat Councillor for 35 years, but age and recent poor health have caught up with me and it is time to hand over the role of fighting to make sure that this special corner of Camden isn’t forgotten by the powers that be at the Town Hall.”

The local Liberal Democrats have selected Nancy Jirira as the candidate for the forthcoming by-election.

Flick said “I’m delighted to recommend my wonderful friend, neighbour and colleague Nancy Jirira to replace me. Nancy is strong, brave, and committed to making the world, particularly here in Camden, a better, kinder, fairer place.

“Many of you will know Nancy personally, she has worked as an NHS nurse in Camden for over 20 years and been involved in our local community for many more. Her passion for our area is as strong as mine. You may also recognise her from TV - she became a local heroine when, last year, she was an early victim of Covid 19 and appeared on the BBC’s “Hospital” documentary giving a moving speech of thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Royal Free Hospital who had cared for her.”
