Congratulations to Flick Rea

This letter by Hampstead Town candidate Linda Chung was originally published in Camden New Journal on 23rd June 2022.

Many congratulations to you, and Roger Robinson, now both aldermen of Camden.

It was a privilege to be at the ceremony and to hear the tributes. May I add my own as a personal friend and fellow Liberal Democrat woman?

First, you are irrepressible.

You will not pander to any form of political correctness which you believe is wrong or unnecessary.

It was not a surprise that you insisted you were an alderman, not an alderwoman, hence your medal had to returned to be corrected.

We saw your strong nature, working hard as the voice for Fortune Green.

You got it recognised, not as a distant outlier to be ignored by Camden, but for its individual character, and aspirations of its people.

You were a true force of knowledge on the planning committee.

You saw the bigger picture but you were a little terrier when it came to attention to detail.

You were also always accessible to your constituents, always ready to listen and to fight their corner.

Flick, I am so proud of you, your service to the community, and your dedication to the cause.

If I am lucky enough to be elected as a Hampstead councillor, I can aspire to achieve only a part of what you have done as a public servant, but I know we will always retain our Liberal Democrat values and demand a council that listens and responds to residents.
