Recladding work on the five Chalcots towers was meant to finally get underway earlier this year, but the Council's deal with Wates collapsed over the form and cost of the programme.
The Council is undergoing a fresh tendering process and aims to start work sometime next year. The project is not due to be completed until the end of 2023, more than six years after the buildings were evacuated and the cladding removed.
Cllr Tom Simon says: "We don't have much confidence this new date for completion will be met, as the Council has consistently failed to meet its own targets. We’ll continue to speak up for Chalcots residents, who have been left feeling unsure about the future and disillusioned with the whole project. If you have specific concerns you’d like us to raise, do email one of us at [email protected] or [email protected]"
