Victory on Section 21

Last week for the second time within a municipal year a Liberal Democrat motion passed through Camden’s Full Council - showing that we are the real opposition on the Council.

Our motion calling for an end to Section 21 (the clause of the 1988 Housing Act that allows landlords to evict tenants for no reason) passed with Labour support after the Conservatives shamefully abstained.

Following pressure from Camden and other councils as well as campaign organisations like Generation Rent, It was great to hear this week that the Government is now consulting on abolishing section 21 in England - a groundbreaking shift for tenants rights!
