Hi, my name's Matthew and I am proud to be the vice-chair of Camden Lib Dems and a council candidate for Gospel Oak.
I have practised as a barrister specialising in criminal law for nearly twenty years and spend my working life fighting to secure justice and protect the rights of all concerned in the criminal justice system.
I moved back to Camden two years ago following a few years in the country. North London is where my routes are, as I am reminded whenever I pass the Royal Free, where my brother was born and my grandfather died.
My family and I are building our lives in this community. My daughter is at a local primary school. My wife, Katya Apekisheva, is part of the rich cultural scene in Camden as a regular performer at the wonderful Kings Place and artistic director of the London Piano Festival.
I have campaigned to promote European cooperation over twenty five years. I am passionate in my belief that the country has made a terrible decision and we must rethink the path we are on.
I am equally passionate in my belief that the people of Gospel Oak deserve better representation than the complacent Labour administration, who are running the Queen's Crescent market into the ground when it should be the hub of local community life and who have no proper answers to local housing need or the escalation in crime and anti-social behaviour we are experiencing.
