Lib Dems in Camden stand against hard Brexit on Europe Day

Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidates Kirsty Allan and Stephen Crosher have marked Europe Day today by calling on voters in Camden to support the Lib Dems in standing up to Theresa May's plans for a hard, destructive Brexit.

Kirsty Allan, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in Hampstead and Kilburn, said:

“Europe Day is a powerful reminder of the crucial role of the EU in uniting people across the continent.

“Theresa May’s disastrous hard Brexit is cynical and divisive, as she gambles with the country’s future in order to pander to UKIP and the far-right of her own party. We’ve seen that the Conservatives in Hampstead and Kilburn are gleefully marching to her tune, ready to impose hard Brexit on a constituency that voted 75% to remain, while Labour will do nothing to oppose it.

“The Liberal Democrats are the only party fully committed to fighting hard Brexit and defending the values of openness and unity.”

Stephen Crosher, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in Holborn and St Pancras, said:

"Europe Day is symbol not just of unity with our fellow Europeans, but serves as a reflection of the open and tolerant mindset that modern Britain is built on.

“In Holborn and St Pancras, I will stand up to Theresa May's disastrous agenda for a hard Brexit and champion the values of unity and progress, as well as a society that embraces new business growth, innovation and a clean energy future. Corbyn's Labour Party has already proven to be a hapless and weak opposition, as the shadow cabinet continually fail to get to grips with their briefs.

“The upcoming General Election presents an opportunity to vote for a real opposition and a progressive vision of the future in the form of the Lib Dems.”

Responding to comments made by Jeremy Corbyn that Brexit had been "settled", leader of the Liberal Democrats, Tim Farron said:

"Corbyn made his party vote in Parliament with the Conservatives on Brexit, and now he is joining Theresa May in denying the British people a final say on the Brexit deal.

"Be in no doubt, if you are worried about Theresa May’s plans for a hard, destructive Brexit, and if you do not want to see our country ripped from the Single Market with the futures of millions of EU citizens put at risk, the Lib Dems are the only party which is fighting for you."
