Statement from Camden Liberal Democrats on Labour Anti-Semitism

Camden Liberal Democrats respond to the Panorama Documentary, investigating the Labour Antisemitism.

Yesterday saw further evidence of anti-semitism within Camden Labour. Panorama again raised questions about Cllr Gardiner’s role in handling complaints about anti-semitism in Labour HQ. When these questions were raised earlier this year Camden Liberal Democrats called for Cllr Gardiner to be suspended from the Labour Group on Camden Council while an investigation took place. No action was taken by Camden Council’s Labour Group. Now Cllr Gardiner is the Mayor’s consort, officially representing the Borough. Is this the image we want for our Borough?

Meanwhile members of Hampstead & Kilburn Constituency Labour Party were last night presented with a series of questions about the Jewish Labour Movement As yet, Hampstead & Kilburn’s Labour MP Tulip Siddiq has made no comment on this.

All Camden residents deserve to know that they will be represented by their councillors and MPs, regardless of their heritage or faith. By failing to speak out or take action, Camden Labour is turning its back on its Jewish residents. The time has come for Camden Labour to stand up and be counted – their silence and inaction on these issues cannot continue.
