How green is my Council?

Sadly, not always as green as they’d like to think

Labour’s new refuse contract was billed as an environmental improvement as it would increase recycling and cut the amount we send to landfill (Camden’s recycling record had slipped back since the years the Lib Dems controlled the Council).

The new contract was an attempt to increase recycling across the Borough, but at what cost locally? The new contract is cheaper but has had some disastrous side effects. A huge growth in fly-tipping with an increased rat and fox population, coupled with an apparent cut in street sweeping has ruined our local environment.

Parts of our neighbourhood often seem neglected and filthy, which lead to increases in anti-social behaviour and complaints from residents.

This is just not good enough! Flick Rea has called for a full review of waste collection in the local area to ensure we all live in a clean green environment.
