NW6 Liberal Democrats have asked for an update from the area's local police team on what steps residents can take to reduce the chance of their car being broken into.
There has been an increase in car crime across our area in the last few weeks. The local policing team have given tips on how to reduce any chance of your car being victim to these criminals:
- Check your car is locked
- Windows up and secure
- Nothing valuable is left on show
- Leave glove boxes and other compartments open so to show nothing valuable is inside
- Install alarms and/or dash cameras
Local campaigner Sam Campling, who attends the Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings, says:
"It's really helpful to have this practical advice from the police. Although there is indeed a small increase in motor vehicle crime across the West Hampstead and Fortune Green wards, it's about in line with what the police expects for this time of the year. It's down to us to keep vigilant and follow advice as best as we can. If you need to speak to the local police team, you can make general enquiries by following this link. Alternatively to report crime, call 101, or 999 in an emergency."
